This is one of our most popular tours because it includes the two main Spanish cities and several of the most important wine regions, Ribera del Duero, Rioja or Penedés. Not to mention the gastronomy of San Sebastian and the art and history of Spain.
Program
SUMMARY: Tour of 10 days, 9 nights visiting Madrid – Segovia – Ribera del Duero – Burgos – La Rioja – San Sebastian – Bilbao – Barcelona – Priorat/Penedes. Accommodation in 4* hotels with breakfast included. Meals according to itinerary with wine: 4 lunches and 1 tapas dinner. 1 dinner and 1 lunch in 3* Michelin restaurants. 5 visits to wineries with wine tasting included. Wine expert guide/assistant during the trip according to program. Pick up at Madrid airport, transfer to San Sebastian airport and pick up at Barcelona airport.
ITINERARY:
DAY 1. Madrid.
- Arrival in Madrid. Pick up at the airport and transfer to the hotel. Guided tour of Madrid with tapas and wine tour for dinner.
DAY 2. Madrid.
- Free day in Madrid. Suggestions of what to do, museums to visit, etc. are included.
DAY 3. Ribera del Duero.
- Departure from Madrid to Ribera del Duero (2h). Visit to a winery in the Ribera, traditional lunch, roast lamb in a wood oven. Visit to Peñafiel. Hotel check in and free dinner. OPTIONAL: We can visit Segovia to see the Roman aqueduct and eat suckling pig.
DAY 4. Burgos and Rioja.
- Departure to Burgos. Guided visit to the cathedral of Burgos. Departure to La Rioja arriving for lunch or tapas lunch in Burgos. Visit to the Dinastía Vivanco Wine Museum. Dinner at leisure.
DAY 5.. Architecture and Wine in Rioja.
- Visit to two wineries. We will visit two of the main wineries in Rioja, designed by famous architects, such as Ysios, or traditional ones such as López Heredia, etc. Lunch, visit to the medieval town of Laguardia. Dinner at leisure.
DAY 6. San Sebastian.
- Transfer to San Sebastian. Visit to the city, ascent to Mount Igueldo. Free time to rest and dinner reservation at one of the 3 Michelin star restaurants.
DAY 7. Bilbao.
- Transfer to Bilbao to visit the Guggenheim Museum and lunch at Azurmendi, a 3 Michelin star restaurant located in a txakoli wine cellar. Flight to Barcelona. Pick up at the airport and transfer to the hotel.
DAY 8. Art in Barcelona.
- Your private guide will pick you up from the hotel for a private tour of Barcelona, Gaudi, and Park Guell. Paella lunch by the sea. OPTIONAL: Tapas tour in Barcelona, the best way to get to know the Gothic Quarter and the Born.
DAY 9. Penedés or Priorat.
- One day tour to the wine regions of Penedés or Priorat with visits to two wineries and lunch.
DAY 10. Transfer to the airport and end of our services.

Tradition, wine and architecture in Rioja

A weekend trip for those who want to experience the traditional and avant-garde wines, gastronomy and architecture of one of the main wine regions in Spain: La Rioja.

SUMMARY: Tour of 3 days, 2 nights in SPA Hotel in La Rioja with breakfast included. Visit to two wineries with tasting, welcome dinner and lunch in restaurant or winery.
ITINERARY:
DAY 1. FRIDAY. Arrival and welcome dinner.
- Arrival in La Rioja. Hotel check in.
- Welcome dinner in a restaurant in the city or at the hotel.
DAY 2. SATURDAY. Wine in La Rioja.
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Visit to two wineries in the morning. They will be different wineries to appreciate the variety of winemaking in La Rioja, one of the centenary wineries followed by a winery designed by a famous architect. Guided tour of the production facilities and representation of the winery, tasting of the wines produced there and aperitif.
- Lunch at the winery or restaurant. Traditional Riojan menu with wines from the winery or tasting menu if you prefer avant-garde cuisine. In the afternoon different options: Visit to the Dinastía Vivanco Wine Culture Museum in Briones or to the Villa Lucía wine theme center, or enjoy the hotel SPA.
- Dinner on your own.
DAY 3. SUNDAY
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Visit to a winery with wine tasting
- We suggest a visit to the medieval town of Laguardia. Beneath the cobbled streets of Laguardia is full of old subway cellars. Above them we can find numerous monuments and sites of interest, such as the gothic facade of the church of Santa Maria de los Reyes from the 14th century.

- Wine tasting course
- Wine and food pairing dinner where food is combined with wine, all explained by a sommelier.
- Visit to the Monasteries of Suso and Yuso in San Millán de la Cogolla declared World Heritage Site, and cradle of the Castilian language. The monastic community founded by San Millán in the middle of the 6th century became a place of pilgrimage and in honor of the saint a beautiful Romanesque church was built in Suso, where it is still preserved. This is where the first texts in Castilian, one of the most widely spoken languages in the world, were written. At the beginning of the 16th century the monks moved to the monastery of Yuso, where they remain to this day.
- Visit to the Monastery of Cañas
- Visit to the cathedral of Santo Domingo de la Calzada. Santo Domingo is a small medieval town very important for pilgrims on the Camino de Santiago. The cathedral is famous for its beauty and the legend of the rooster and the hen. The cathedral museum is also worth a visit.
- Visit to the Villa Lucia Wine Thematic Center in Laguardia, villa-lucia.com. Villa Lucia is not a museum as such but a thematic center dedicated to wine. It is very entertaining for all wine lovers, as it is a multimedia exhibition to learn the secrets of winemaking and wine tasting. The visit is interactive and even includes a virtual tasting.
- Tour of the vineyards by bicycle or on foot (hiking). During the tour, the vineyard, the cave wine presses and the vineyard guards will be explained, depending on where the tour takes place. A visit to a winery can be included during the bike ride.
- Grape harvest and grape treading activities in September and October.
A day of wine from Madrid

Ribera del Duero is one of the most prestigious wine regions in Spain. If you only have one day you can go from Madrid in the morning and return in the afternoon, visit two wineries and enjoy an excellent traditional meal: Lechazo roasted in a wood oven. After lunch you can visit a site of historical interest.

SUMMARY: 1 day guided tour with visit to two wineries with tasting and lunch of traditional Castilian menu.
ITINERARY:
- 9:00h. – Departure from Madrid
- 11:00h. – Visit to a winery. Guided tour of the winery facilities, with explanations about the winemaking process and tasting of the wines produced there.
- 13:00h. – Visit to a second winery. Wineries of different styles will be chosen to make the visits interesting. We can visit a traditional winery with subway passages and another one with modern architecture, for example. The wineries are always chosen according to your tastes.
- 14:30h. – Traditional Castilian lunch in a rotisserie or in a winery. We will eat the typical suckling lamb roasted in a wood oven accompanied by wines from Ribera del Duero. After some traditional starters of black pudding and chorizo de la olla, we will move on to the suckling lamb with salad, dessert, coffee and shot. The wine is crianza from Ribera del Duero (if someone does not like lamb, they can order something else). There is also the option of eating a modern menu or going on a tapas tour.
- In the afternoon. After lunch you can visit a third winery, or a site of tourist interest such as Peñaranda or Peñafiel or the subway cellars of Aranda. Or return to Madrid.
- 17:00h o 17:30h. – Departure to Madrid with expected arrival at 19.00 h or 19.30h. The distance between Madrid and Ribera del Duero is approximately two hours (Madrid – Aranda de Duero 159 Km, Madrid – Peñafiel: 193 Km).
